Vacant former Walmart property in Pelham set to become corporate warehouse

News emerged on the afternoon of Tuesday, February 20, 2024, that an Alabaster-based company, Specification Rubber, has acquired the former Walmart building in the southern part of Pelham, with intentions to convert it into a warehouse. Located on 16 acres just off Highway 31, the vacant 120,000-square-foot building has sat empty for approximately two years. With this acquisition, the company will expand its operations beyond current city limits.

The new warehouse—less than half a mile from the manufacturing headquarters of Specification Rubber in Alabaster—will hold the company’s inventory of finished goods and raw materials.
