In the vibrant city of Birmingham, there is no shortage of innovative entrepreneurs and business leaders who are making significant strides in the local business scene. In this article, we spotlight three Birmingham startups that are currently making substantial waves in various industries.
Kimmie Stylz, founded by Birmingham’s own Kimberly Cornner, delivers high-quality hair products with a focus on natural ingredients, specifically to cater to diverse and textured hair. The range of products promises to detangle, moisturize, and hydrate for enhanced hair growth.
The products, which contain natural ingredients like aloe vera, olive oil, tea tree, jojoba, avocado, and peppermint oils, are as beneficial as they are versatile. Besides being safe for children, they are also cruelty-free.
Having spent 15 years as a natural hair care stylist, Cornner sought to create a line of hair care products that highlight the links between proper hair care, self-esteem, confidence, and overall health. In a testament to the brand’s potential, Kimmie Stylz was awarded $25,000 in Alabama Launchpad in April.
Stockd Concierge Services, founded by Birmingham natives Drew Willoughby and John Price, offers a unique service aimed at making travel arrangements hassle-free. They make vacations truly feel like a vacation by supplying essential items right to the customer’s rental home, including groceries, beach gear, water toys, and more. From food in the fridge to beach umbrellas by the surf, the company takes care of mundane tasks.
Guests can also avail of their additional services like bait delivery, beach chair rentals, kayak rentals, and even exciting excursions such as jet ski rentals, parasailing, snorkeling, and offshore fishing trips.
The motivation behind launching Stockd Concierge Services comes from a simple realization — vacationers spend almost 73 minutes on average grocery shopping and unloading during a busy weekend at the beach. Willoughby and Price aim to eliminate that inconvenience and maximize customers’ vacation time.
The third startup on our list, BrightPay Health Corp, addresses a pertinent issue in healthcare. Recognizing how freelancers often struggle to access and afford comprehensive coverage due to the nature of healthcare being tied to employer-sponsored plans, BrightPay seeks to simplify the process.
The healthcare tech company has developed a mobile app designed for healthcare providers, making payment processing easier for patients who do not have employee plans. This bridges the gap between health service providers and freelancers or other such individuals, offering a significant boost to accessible healthcare.
These three startups have been making impressive strides, contributing to Birmingham’s vibrant business ecosystem while addressing crucial market gaps. With their innovative ideas and determined spirit, they continue to reinvent and invigorate the local business landscape.
