Thriving Birmingham business scene
The vibrant city of Birmingham continues to grow and thrive as it welcomes several new businesses to its burgeoning scene. From a highly anticipated new bar in Avondale to a unique children’s boutique, The Magic City has something for everyone. Here’s a sneak peek at six of the latest business openings in the area:
Black Market Bar + Grill has finally set up shop in Avondale after their lengthy stay at Five Points. Taking over the previous Avondale Common House, this alluring destination offers crafted cocktails, late-night meals, and a delightful Sunday brunch.
Sweet lovers in Birmingham have a reason to celebrate with the opening of Lilly & Daisy Bakery in Roebuck. The bakery offers a wide variety of sweet treats, including cupcakes, pound cakes, and customized cakes for special occasions. A sweeter Birmingham is definitely in the making!
The newly opened Black Leaf Cigar Company has become West Birmingham’s latest addition. This local, high-end cigar lounge offers a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere for folks to unwind and enjoy fine imported cigars.
Vestavia City Centre has welcomed Dear Emmaline, a delightful one-stop-shop for children’s clothing, accessories, and toys. This delightful boutique, launched as an online business in 2017 by owner Jordan Soyars, is now a full-fledged brick-and-mortar store.
Adding to Birmingham’s outdoor leisure offerings, Walker County Park in Jasper officially opened on August 9. The park, designed with engaging amenities, is one of the six centennial parks to mark United Way’s 100-year anniversary.
After a four-year break due to the pandemic, Terrific New Theatre (TNT) is set to make its grand return to the theatre scene in Birmingham. The theatre, which has recently acquired the former Alabama Auction Room, is poised to offer its 2024-2025 theatrical season in a newly renovated space.
While there are many additions, Birmingham also bids farewell to a couple of local businesses. Cheap Chick in Homewood, a favorite thrift store, will be closing after two years of service.
The luxury auto dealerships Alfa Romeo of Birmingham and Maserati of Birmingham have closed their storefronts at the Irondale Auto Mall. However, following these closures, it seems that the Subaru is set to replace the Italian-made brands at the Mall.
These additions and transitions add more color to the diverse tapestry of the Birmingham business scene. The community must be excited about these new and up-and-coming businesses in The Magic City.
